Living the Bachelor Life

Well, Jack and I spent the weekend celebrating with parties. He was with his guys in Waterville, and I spent a night on the town in Kirkland with my girls! I had a crazy time meeting lots of new people, dancing, drinking, playing pool, and just hanging out at the bar.

Eventhough I havent talked to Jack yet because he comes home today, I am pretty sure he had a blast paintballing with all his friends. My brother even went along, which is pretty funny to think how fast Westin has grown up. It is kind of nice to know that they were given the chance for some more bonding time.

Lots left to do as far as getting the house done. And with all of this snow I could not be happier. It was so beautiful last night watching it fall.

10 days out

It's official! Jack and I met with the officiant tonight. We were a little nervous as we found her on craigslist. We met her in Renton at a Starbucks (my fav!) I had a feeling it was her, I saw her waiting in line to buy her coffee and I thought to myself 'I hope that is her!' She was friendly, nice, and best of all NORMAL! Ha ha. She had exactly what we wanted. She told us she has been very busy lately and it was great to hear that she has done a ton of weddings! We are both so relieved!

We have also been putting together our wedding favors, they are nothing big but I think they are perfect!

I am still in the process of figuring out how I want my hair done but this Friday will hopefully be the day!

I am getting very nervous/anxious/excited for my bachelorette party! It will be this Friday night and I really don't know any of the details. Jack's Bachelor party is this Saturday, they are going paintballing up in the mountains.

Kami and Rich are coming home early Sunday morning which will be great because it has been pretty lonely without them!

The tree is up!

Today marks a week since Kami and Rich have left for Jamaica. They have left most of the decorating up to Jack and I. We have put up a ton of christmas lights, the pointsettias are out (which are beautiful) and we finally got them a tree!!! It is so beautiful. With school still breathing down my neck, the wedding hasnt hit me yet. It still feels so far away.

Tomorrow I am meeting with Robin to practice wedding hair up-dos! We are also going to the courthouse tomorrow to apply for our marriage license and we are metting with the possible officiant this Monday.

That is all for now but I will make sure to update when we know more!

Can't hardly wait

So the cake meeting went well. It sounds like Katie will be able to make us the most beautiful and delicious cake I have ever tasted! It already sounds amazing.

We scheduled an appointment with an officiant we found online and are hoping the meeting goes well.

We are slowly recieving many of our reception response cards in the mail. It looks like we might have nearly 80 people coming which is great, it will be standing room only!

My mom has been getting pretty emotional lately, she can't believe her daughter is getting married, she said "these last 24 years have just flown by!" She kept mentioning that she can remember the day I was born just as if it were yesterday and how amazing it will be to see me get married the exact same day of the year. I just hope her tears are because she is so happy! Ha ha.

I know my family is incredibly happy for us because they love Jack. He is a wonderful guy and they are so relieved that I found someone like him to be a part of our family.

It sounds like our next big task is setting up and working with all of the lighting.

That's it for now...

Target has been great!

Yesterday I spent a good amount of time finding some more decorations at Target. I keep getting more and more excited! I also returned a few items that we didn't need and bought some things we did which made me feel great because I know we aren't wasting any money! The great thing about buying our decorations is that we will be able to reuse them again in the future! I still don't want to give away anything so everyone will just have to see it when the big day comes!

I am meeting with Kathleen and Katie tomorrow to do one more dress fitting and to discuss my dream wedding cake! I thought Jack would want to have more say but his only request was that it not be chocolate. I didn't have a problem with that at all!

Today and tomorrow will be spent trying to find some more baby pictures for the montage. Since my family and I have moved numerous times in the last 5 years, I still do not know where a majority of things are.

I have heard from many guests that they have gotten their invitations already! I am so glad everyone liked them! We are having a black and white wedding with hints of red.

I have been checking our wedding registry often and have come to realize that the sales change daily. Many of our items continue to be marked down which is great.

Our biggest concern of the moment is trying to find someone to marry us. We do not want someone extremely religious. I have given this task to Jack so we will see who is available. I had no idea it would be this hard to find someone. Orginially we had hoped for someone we knew to marry us but it turns out we don't know anyone.

Less than one month!

Almost one month away!

The wedding is nearly a month away and we are so excited! The invitations should be arriving in everyone's mailboxes either today or tomorrow! We got a great deal on make-your-own invitations and we had a blast putting them together! The deal was almost too good to be true!

My dress has been fitted, I am meeting with Katie on Friday to discuss more of our wedding cake plans! I have always wanted a marzipan cake with snowflakes, I can't wait to see it. The tuxes are rented, the guys are going to look so handsome! I would have to say that I am most excited to see Jack in a tux and to see my cake and flowers! I keep saying to myself that wedding planning should not be this easy....it has actually been affordable so far and that is great news!

We have been assembling our group of pics for the video montage and I can't wait to see the final product.

We hope everyone is doing well! Keep your eyes open for those invites if you havent yet got yours.

Wedding Details

Kami and I spent yesterday at Michaels looking for some decorations. Jack rented his tux, we ordered his ring, we finished with our gift registry and almost everything else is falling into place! I have posted below our wedding site that includes more details for everyone.

Only about 40 days to go! Our parents could not be more excited about our decision to have a local wedding as opposed to a court house wedding, he he. Any other questions please feel free to call.

Things are coming together!

This may be shocking but we have FINALLY made a few official plans! We are getting married this Decemeber and on the 19th! We want to have it at Jack's parent's house in the evening. I have created a pretty small guest list because I have always wanted an intimate wedding and there is limited space. I bought my dress yesterday which was very lucky for me. I found it on Thursday, tried it on on Friday and immediately fell in love with it. After an hour I bought it! I absolutely love it and hope that Jack will think I look incredible!!

We are stilling working on getting our marriage certificate and finding a judge to marry us. There will be cake, drinks, and some food. We will be sending out invitations soon!

We are registered at Macy's but are still working on completing our registry list. As of now, I believe that is the plan. After the wedding, Jack and I will be spending the weekend at the Redmond Town Center Marriott for a small get-a-way!

So SAVE THE DATE

With every passing moment comes a whole new set of wedding plans...I can't even keep track of all the ideas we have had over the past two months! First we thought about having it on the beach at my cabin, and then we thought about Jamaica. Jack and I recently visited a Sandals seminar in the Kirkland area. It last about an hour and we were given a slideshow of all the Sandals resorts. I believe there are nearly 21 resorts altogether. We had no idea how extensive the resorts were. It was fun to learn about the history and all of the wonderful services that it has to offer. We were in awe from beginning to end. I envisioned an amazing trip full of fun, romance, and complete bliss. We knew that if we decided to go to Sandals for our weddingmoon that it would be difficult to fully appreciate the vacation as it was meant to be experienced...I wanted a relaxing vacation for Jack and I where we could just enjoy eachothers company and when I began to imagine a wedding smack dab in the middle of our vacation I started to question the idea altogether. I know many of our family and friends were dissapointed when we gave them our change of plans but please let me explain further.

There were many small details we didn't know beforehand. Such as, Sandals is entirely a couples only resort, no children allowed. We also found out that if people are to stay at a different hotel than Sandals they must pay nearly 100 dollars just to witness the ceremony. Last but not least, the prices are expensive. Well, we aren't going to lie, we knew the prices were expensive but we figured if we didn't have to pay for any food, drinks or entertainment then the idea of not worrying about money would be well worth it!

So, Jack and I have decided that maybe Sandals is not our ideal wedding location but a definate Honeymoon possibility. As of now that is the plan...

We have been thinking about a courthouse wedding, and I have heard many people request to witness it there as well. I know this is not nearly as romantic or amazing, but afterall I personally think our wedding day is about Jack and I. All I care about it sharing this day with him no matter where it is.

Again, our apologies. We can't seem to make up our minds...but one thing is for sure and that is we want to spend the rest of our lives together! =)

More on our engagement!

I decided to post more Canada pictures for everyone! I didn't find out where we were going until we got to the check in counter! I had never been to Victoria and had no idea what to expect!

It was a very tight squeeze into the seaplane but I didn't mind because the views were amazing!

We flew over Lake Washington towards Lake Union and then over Ballard! The flight was only 45 minutes. When we landed in Canada all of the hotels looked amazing and I couldn't wait to find out which one was ours! The weather was amazing the entire trip!

Jack had the ring in his backback the entire first day! Here he is standing outside of the Parliament building. Our hotel was just to the right of this picture.

This is a park we walked to on our last day! It was beautiful!

Just starting to plan

Hey everyone!

If you haven't yet heard the great news, Jack and I became officially engaged on August 30th 2008! It was a wonderful surprise. He surprised me with a trip to Victoria, B.C. We traveled by Seaplane and it was incredible! Jack proposed the very same night we arrived and of course I said "yes!"
As of now, we have been trying to find the perfect date. First I thought of getting married on our anniversary but it turns out two years away wasn't close enough for anyone, ha ha. So once Jack and I decided that we really wanted to get married in Jamaica we had to find a non-hurricane season day. We have decided on Jamaica because Jack's parents are very fond of it and like to travel there often! While at the Seattle Wedding Expo I found out that if you get married at the Sandals Resort, the wedding is included in your stay! I jumped right one board. Why not get married and have our honeymoon all at once? Of course if anyone is interested in coming to the wedding, we do not expect everyone to stay at Sandals because it is a bit more expensive. Jack's parents often stay at Rondel Village where airfare and hotel prices are much more reasonable.
As of now our wedding date in my 25th Birthday - Dec. 19th 2009! This way we are sure to be hurricane free and no one will be in school! We are welcoming everyone to be there as well! Of course invitations will be out eventually.
Nothing is permanently set is stone, but I really hope these plans will work! That is it for now. I will keep everyone posted!
